Patient Care Assistant - Spine Ortho

This unit is a 24 bed acute care medical/surgical unit that provides care for adult patients with orthopaedic and neurological diagnosis.# This unit typically treats adults who have undergone a spine or orthopedics surgery.## Services most frequently provided include, but not limited to: post-operative care for joint replacement patients; trauma; fractures; craniotomy, laminectomy; spinal discectomy and fusions.# Services are also provided for patients with medical needs including but not limited to: stroke, syncopal episode, DVT, mild CHF, pneumonia, COPD, Hospice and Respite Care, and pain control. Under supervision of the RN, serves as an integral member of the health care team by performing clerical and patient care assignments as delegated and permitted by law and regulatory bodies and institutional policies and procedures.# This position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and service appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area. Minimum Education/Training: High school graduate or equivalent. Registration/Certification or License Required: Current BLS for the Health Care Provider (or completed within 60 days of hire). Preferred Education: Certified Nurses Aide Certificate (CNA), EMT (ED), Anatomy and Physiology course. Preferred Experience: Previous patient care experience, knowledge of medical terminology, computer literacy, bilingual. Physical Requirements: Lift over 50 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. a distance of 30 feet. Push/pull # 200 lbs. (ie. Patients on bed, stretcher). Lateral transfer or max assist sit to stand transfer. Occasional sitting. Occasional twisting, squatting, kneeling. Frequent standing, walking. Frequent#bending, reaching. Continuous talking, hearing.
