Gateway Community and Technical College invites applications for the Instructional Designer /Technologist. This full-time position will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students as a key member of the Center for eLearning in a dynamic, fast-paced environment developing and maintaining high-quality online courses, leading technology training and providing technical support.

Coach and lead faculty through the design and development of online courses while adhering to college course templates and Blackboard Exemplary Course Program guidelines. In addition to building the courses, evaluate courses to assure the highest levels of quality.
Provide expertise, technical support, and training to subject matter experts, faculty, staff, and students who are participating in the development and/or deployment of online classes, hybrid classes, or face-to-face classes, including classroom technology, where applicable.
Be the primary point of contact for technical support issues and maintaining a ticketing system for help requests.
Follow usability/accessibility requirements such as ADA Section 508, universal design strategies in online learning environments, student identity authentication, and technology issues specific to fully online education.
Produce instructional objects, including video, graphics, and interactive media elements using a variety of digital media editors such as Adobe Creative Suite, Captivate, PowerPoint, YouTube, etc.
This position will also work to provide unique, custom solutions to making content available online.
Stay current with the latest industry tools and trends in higher education. Stay current on changing software platforms as well as quality assurance rubrics.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in educational technology, instructional design, education/curriculum development, or equivalent.
Two years of relevant experience.
Strong technology acumen with working knowledge of Blackboard, rapid authoring tools, web-based tools (such as YouTube), and a variety of instructional technologies that can be deployed in an eLearning environment.
Experience working with Windows, Mac OS and mobile platforms.
Familiarity with current trends in eLearning technology.
History of openness to experimentation with new technologies and pedagogies.
Anticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction resulting in sustained, productive customer relationships.
Excellent verbal, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
HTML Web Editing experience.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations.
Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment as well as external business and community partners, representing themselves in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree, in educational technology, instructional design, education/curriculum development, or equivalent
Three years of relevant experience.
Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations.
Experience working at the community college level.

Anticipated start date: November 2020
