Job Description - Responsibilities :


The successful candidate will have two primary skillsets:


1) Network delivery and coordination management

2) Network core and access switch installation and configuration


The specific requirements are as follows:


1) Network delivery and coordination management

The candidate will be responsible for the overall deployment and network configuration of new network kit to Data Centre locations within Barclays. This will include:


Review Project requirements

o Assist and provide input to Solutions Design and Delivery (SDD) engineers, liaising between Business and Technical Areas as required


Project Planning

o Plan and agree project activities alongside business areas, suppliers and 3rd parties

o Track and manage Networks tasks & timescales to the overall project plan and provide updates to the Project Manager

o Run meetings/calls as required with key delivery teams


Procurement

o Manage quotation and procurement process for Network deliverables for both project and BAU infrastructure upgrades

o Track orders through to delivery to Data Centre/Campus locations

o Manage supplier and key stakeholder expectations throughout procurement process


Site Preparations

o Addition of configuration items to CMDB (configuration management database)

o Liaise with DC teams and incumbent cabling supplier to understand additional racking and cabling requirements/challenges and progress new requirements via the procurement process as required

o Complete change management process for all activities required


Installation

o Liaise with Data Centre/Campus teams and SDD to agree timelines for installation, configuration and AIR (Acceptance into RUN) of kit

o Complete change management process for all activities required

o Confirm deployment of kit and work with the SDD engineer to


The successful candidate will also act as the point of contact for projects on behalf of Barclays Foundation Services (BFS).


2) Network core and access switch installation and configuration


The candidate will:

Have the ability to understand and interpret complex business and IT requirements, design an appropriate solution and implement the network. End to end project delivery.

Have sufficient knowledge of IT Operations understanding policy, processes, procedures and systems deployed.

Practical experience in Cisco Routing and Switching at CCNA/CCNP Level and/or Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) deployment.

Have excellent knowledge of the project lifecycle.


Experience


- Cisco Routing and Switching at CCNA/CCNP Level

- Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) deployment

- Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to influence peer group good negotiation skills.

- Proven ability to prioritise competing demands for time and resources

- Have the ability to understand and interpret complex business and IT requirements and assess future

- Managing large Network project implementations.


Key Accountabilities


The role holder will be responsible for the overall deployment of new network kit to both Data Centre and Campus locations within Barclays.

The role holder will act as the primary contact between the project and the virtual engineering teams (both internal and external).

The role holder will ensure that appropriately skilled and experienced resources are appointed in line with the requirements of the project.

The role holder will ensure that project status reporting is accurate and timely and that any risk to timescales is highlighted at the earliest opportunity.

The role holder will ensure that all costs identified receive approval from the project/BAU team at both Director/FBP (Financial Business Partner) level.

The role holder will ensure that all communication within the virtual team is clear and precise, and that all documentation is up-to-date.

The role holder will be able to run with multiple deliveries concurrently whilst remaining focussed and maintaining a meticulous eye for detail.

The role holder will ensure that all deliveries are completed in accordance with Project, Governance and Control procedures.


Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:


2+ years experience of successfully managing IT project deliverables to short timescales in a project / programme environment and escalating any issues to the stakeholders.

Proven experience of working effectively with internal and external suppliers to ensure that projects are delivered on time and in line with the budget.

Experience of leading and motivating virtual teams (engineers, project managers, transition managers, etc.) within an IT project/programme environment.

Experience of managing and influencing stakeholders, achieving high levels of stakeholder satisfaction through setting and meeting / exceeding realistic targets.


Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:


Experience working with workload management tools (Examples: Navigator, JIRA, etc.)

Experience in working in IT Infrastructure or Application teams within the Financial Services sector

Knowledge of ITIL disciplines

Broad understanding of Network technologies including routing and switching, firewalls and load balancing
